The intro from Keith Jarrett’s recorded version on the album “Whisper Not” begins this version of the Duke Ellington jazz classic, which is then treated tenderly with a few choral textures above the piano accompaniment. A baritone soloist is featured (in a decent female range up an octave) for a moment against beautifully descending and swooping background vocals. Finally, the ensemble takes over the lyric for one final rich and satisfying statement before ending on a loco unison at pianissimo.
