The work is inspired by the Impressionist works of Debussy and uses the Whole Tone scale as the basis for its harmonic structure. This prelude will serve as an excellent piece to explore the Whole Tone scale and more advanced harmony while still remaining tonal and palatable to the ear.
This Prelude is about 2 minutes in length and is appropriate for both schools, students, and when combined with its companion piece, Prelude no. 8 - Le Matin de Pacques, it is also appropriate for Churches as well. This Prelude is the 7th Prelude in a set of preludes for solo piano by R. M. LeGrand and works well on its own, or with its companion prelude, Prelude no. 8 which depicts the sunrise on Easter morning after the nightfall.
