This Prelude, based on the old hymn tune, Bristol, is intended principally for use on the second Sunday of Advent. Our church group has always played it in the version for solo flute and string quartet, but this version for wind quintet could be useful. Please note that the flute part is the most difficult. The clarinet, oboe and horn parts are easy. The flautist and bassoonist will have to breathe where they need to: different players can make their breath last longer!
