I use all 4 books of the series. The only supplemental materials I use I have designed myself.

This course is a good alternative to the Thompson red course. One difference is that fewer of the pieces have words. A second is that there are fewer finger numbers. The series does not develop keys as rapidly as Thompson. A nice feature is that there are not huge gaps...

in the progression. The student does not encounter a roadblock in going from book 1 to book 2. Plan on spending up to two years in each book to teach the course right. There is a lot of material crunched into a small space.

Fabulous series, very thorough. Teaches Middle C method and provides techniques. Highly recommended. Kids enjoy songs as well.

I have taught from this primer for over 30 years. I particularly like that they do NOT provide all the finger numbers. I find it just the right speed of progression for children. I've even used it for adults with success. I was pleased that Sheet Music Plus still...

    had it.
