So far I have played "That's the Way It Is", "I Swear", and "From A Distance", and all were pretty easy to learn and good arrangements of these popular songs. Looking forward to learning "Pink Panther". The songs seem to be challenging enough for an early intermediate, but not...

so hard they take a long time to learn.

I use this book along with the next one, 3B, to help students start developing an affinity for the patterns of popular music. I Swear, That's the Way it Is, and From A Distance are great for this purpose with their syncopation in the Right Hand and straightforward open...

fifths in the Left Hand. And they all adore Pink Panther, which has to be taught pretty much by rote even with this simplified but attractive arrangement.
