By Myroslav Dragan, Olga Shutko, and Ostap Shutko. By Peter Seabourne. Classical. CD. Naxos #SH082. Published by Naxos (NX.SH082).

Miroslav Dragan is a widely respected soloist, accompanist and teacher from Lviv, having studied at both school and conservatory in the city. Regarded as one of Ukraine's leading pianists, he has given concerts extensively in central and eastern Europe and frequently appears at major festivals in Ukraine. However, a piano duo is a formation he particularly enjoys; he and his wife have formed a formidable large repertoire of works from classical to modern. Contemporary music is an interest and he has given many premieres. Olga Shutko was born in the South of Ukraine and after winning the National competition in Kherson in 1993, she was considered to be of the most promising Ukrainian cello players. Shutko co-founded ""U-trio"" and often performs with her husband, biolinist Ostap Shutko. Ostap was born in Lviv and first appeared solo at the young age of 14. A regular recitalist, chamber musician and concerto soloist, he has many albums and appearances. Peter Seabourne has been composing since childhood. Since 2004 he has won six international prizes and has been commissioned many times. Seabourne's language stands apart from much in contemporary writing, for which he retains a large measure of distrust. It is overtly communicative, emotionally powerful, often lyrical and always rhythmically inventive. He follows his own path.
