Composed by Mel Stallwood. Jazz,Ragtime. Score. 5 pages. Mel Stallwood #26495. Published by Mel Stallwood (A0.903567).

I originally composed this piece in the late 70's. I was working in country band and everyone seemed impressed by the fiddle and steel guitar simulations I produced from one of my keyboards so I wrote a piece that came to be called the 'Donkey Song' The band would shout EE AW, EE AW and then I would play the fiddly bits. The guitar and keyboards would battle solos and I must say it sounded really good at the time. A few years later I worked in another country band in Germany and Holland and the 'Donkey Song' again was featured in our sets. It wasn't until a real fiddle player joined the band ('Owen John') that I relinquished the fake fiddle role and now we had 'Owen on the Fiddle' (still had steel guitar though) (but missing the EE AWs)-.
