Undoubtedly the greatest and most prolific Danish composer of the last century was Niels Viggo Bentzon who had a strong and individual composing style, but was also considered one of the finest pianists in Denmark. Here are some of his early and rare recordings released on album for the first time including his last LP sessions with items never published before. Not only does this set give us Niels Viggo Bentzon as pianist and solo piano composer, but two essential chamber works are also included.Niels Viggo Bentzon studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen under Knud Jeppesen and Christian Christiansen. He then taught at The Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus and at The Royal Danish Academy. His compositions extend to 664 opus numbers, including 24 symphonies, operas, ballets, concertos, string quartets, and many piano works.
