Composed by Tim Fatchen. 20th Century,Opera. Octavo. 568 pages. Flying Tadpole Productions #4763921. Published by Flying Tadpole Productions (A0.992362).

Opera in 4 Acts based on Ngarrindjeri (South Australia) myths. A3 Conductor's score. Chamber orchestra, choir, soloists.

"Ngurunderi Inspirations" was written at the behest of Ngarrindjeri and fellow workers.

"Ngurunderi Inspirations" was programmed by the State Opera of South Australia for a premiere Studio performance season in July 2017. With the sudden resignation and departure of the State Opera's CEO /Artistic Director, (also the Producer and Director for the intended performances) , in whose hands all the staging was, the season was pulled because of insufficient remaining time to start from scratch again. Future performance is hypothetical.
This imprint is made public to ensure the work stays publicly accessible.

Primary story sources:
David Unaipon, (celebrated on the Australian $50 note), was commissioned to write
"Legendary Tales of the Australian Aborigines" in the late 1920s. The commissioner
promptly published the book, with minor editorial alteration, under his own name and not
even a mention of the actual author.

Unaipon's original, and a full account of the plagiarism, is given in:
Unaipon, David (2001) "Legendary Tales of the Australian Aborigines". Edited &
introduced by Muecke, S. & Shoemaker, A. The Miegunyah Press, Melbourne. ISBN
0 522 85246 7 (2006 pbk.).

The plagiarised version is still in print as:
Smith, W. Ramsay (1932) "Myths and Legends of the Australian Aborigines." 2003
Facsimile reproduction, Dover Publications, Mineola, NY.

Albert Karloan, with Pinkie Mack, in 1939 urged the young ethnologists Ronald and
Catherine Berndt to record the stories of his people. Karloan's expositions of the publicly
available Dreamings are given in:
Berndt, R.M. & Berndt, C.H. (1993) "A World That Was: The Yaraldi of the Murray
River and the Lakes, South Australia" Melbourne University Press, Melbourne. ISBN
0 522 84427 8
