A nebula is an interstellar cloud of dust and gases and is often a region where stars are
formed.In photos the stark beauty of these ‘Nebulae’ can be quite compelling and this work
came as a rather spontaneous reaction to these beautiful images.
‘Nebulae’, completed in May 2013, is a mosaic composition, ideas appear, become
concrete, fade away and are hinted at in later sections. It should be played with some
freedom of expression and tempo, the length being 6.50 minutes. The piece is musically intricate and was written as a test piece for the Singapore National Piano and Violin competition and first performed in 2013.(Further information from ejwatson@mac.com.
