This piece's title conjures up images of a beautiful young fawn, illuminated by early morning sunlight in a fog-filled meadow. Composer Larry Clark has a gift for writing heartfelt music with blossoming harmonic perspective. This piece is a different approach from his usual Japanese music, but the piece still has all of the beauty that his pieces have become known for. A gorgeous addition to the repertoire and an excellent piece to teach musicality and phrasing.
The title conjures up images of a beautiful fawn illuminated by early morning sunlight in a fog-filled meadow. It was my intention to depict this feeling with the composition of this piece. The introduction sets the mood and lays out the harmonic material used in the piece. The main melody contains the distinctive descending perfect fourth and some dissonant notes against the chosen harmony. The F# is an important key note in the melody that should be highlighted. When the harmony moves outside of the key it should be emphasized. The B-section moves to a minor key but still emphasized the note F?. The rest of the piece is then reinterpretations of the main music material, with a big build to a climactic statement of the theme, but this time with an added counterline in the violas. The piece concludes with a cascading figure followed by lush chords important to the harmonic structure of the work. I hope you enjoy this lovely piece!
