More Christmas Carol Duets for Alto Recorders

By Traditional

Alto Recorder, Alto recorder duet - Digital Download
Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Douglas Brooks-Davies. Romantic Period, Baroque Period, Renaissance, Christian, Christmas. 28 pages. Published by Douglas Brooks-Davies (S0.454991).

Item Number: S0.454991

Six stimulating and challenging new arrangements of well-loved European carols for two alto recorders. The carols are: Angels we have heard on high (aka Angels from the realms of glory); John Goss's See, amid the winter's snow; the Czech carol, Out of the Forest a Cuckoo flew (the Zither Carol); Il est né, le divin enfant, which I have combined for a few bars with Willy, beat your little drum (also French). This is followed by Sing, lullaby (the Basque carol Oi Betleem!) and Veni, Emmanuel (O Come, O come, Emmanuel). Some of the arrangements are much simpler than others, so there is something for all abilities.

    Difficulty Level:
  • December 12, 2018 The title was appropriate

The two players didn't like the arrangements as they were too modern for our early music tastes. Almost every piece included sixteenth note runs which detracted from the purity of the music. One big problem, there were no measure numbers so it was difficult to pinpoint the same measure...

. And it would have been nice if pieces started on their own page rather than immediately following the previous piece.
