(2014/2015) ...for Wind Orchestra
Premiered on the 3rd of June 2016 at Auditório Vianna da Motta in Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa, Portugal by Orquestra de Sopros da ESML & Conductor Alberto Roque.
Programme notes: I wrote this piece as a personal challenge to simulate the professional life of a composer. It was written on purpose to participate in a composition contest; thus I had: a specific training to compose; a time limit, duration of the work and a deadline for the final delivery of the work.
I gave him this name based on my inspiration while I was writing it. I tried to make that inspiration as basic and simple as possible; what I wanted to hear at the moment (Momentum) while I was writing it.
I had no pre-defined basic chords, no interval relationships, no specific notes in mind...only sounds, gestures/senses and effects...the notes came later.
Written between 2014 and 2015 as part of the composition portfolio of my second year (2º) of undergraduate at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa in Portugal.
Notas de programa: Escrevi esta peça como desafio pessoal de simular a vida profissional de um compositor. Foi escrita de propósito para participar num concurso de composição; desse modo eu tinha: uma formação específica para compor; um limite de tempo, de duração da obra e uma data limite para entrega final da obra.
Dei-lhe este nome com base na minha inspiração enquanto a estava a escrever. Tentei tornar essa inspiração o mais básica e simples possível; o que eu queria ouvir no momento (Momentum) enquanto a estava a escrever.
Não tinha acordes bases pré-definidos nem relações intervalares nem notas específicas em mente...só sons, gestos/sentidos e efeitos...as notas vieram depois.
Escrita entre 2014 e 2015 como parte do meu portefólio de composição do meu segundo ano (2º) de Licenciatura em Música - Composição na Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa.
