Composed by Chris Donze. Score and set of parts. Published by Great Works Publishing (LG.20100237).A light program work that relates the sounds and mood of a full day in a small Mexican village. It features over eighteen different percussion instruments to portray sounds of the desert, village activities and animals. Beginning at sunrise, the village slowly comes to life as a solo trumpet announces the new day. The main theme conveys the cheerful, relaxed mood of the villagers as they begin their daily routine. The work grows and develops across several keys as the village becomes more active and robust, relaxes for the afternoon siesta and swells again all the way to the end at the evening fiesta. This is a challenging yet fun work with memorable melodies that will have your audience singing all the way home.
