This book progresses faster than Thompson’s Teaching Little Fingers To Play, but in my opinion is much better at leaving no gaps between this and the next book, whether you stay with this series or go to the Red books. I’m using this one currently with an Adult...

student who loves it! Too many of the Adult books don’t start with actual note reading while this one does. Many adult books also tend to move too fast once in to note reading. The authors forget that an adult needs as much time and practice as a child to get started.. I like using both this book along with Teaching Little Fingers To Play so the student is completely secure when they move into Grade One. Using the Melody All The Way series along with any method or with the Red Thompson series will assure confident students and a pleasant teaching experience. Goes through several keys & up to 8th notes. Includes minor key songs which is a great way to Intro ear training.

Melody All the Way is Thompson's "new and improved" piano course. He got rid of the frozen hand positions, and he got rid of the gaps between books. This book progresses more rapidly than Teaching Little Fingers. If the teacher takes it slowly, however, the student will receive much...

better training from this book. Students really enjoy playing pieces they like. They learn to read music rather than numbers because the pieces move through various positions. The keys of C, G, F, D, and Bb are covered in the primer level, and rhythm goes through eighth notes.
