How do you keep practice from becoming humdrum?

This arrangement explores chromatic and other improvisations, and was written to develop L.H. strength and technique.  Once you get tired of it, I have also posted another version, "Maple Leaf Rag Etude II", which has a more developed chordal structure.

If you listen to Scott Joplin's own recordings, he doesn't play his pieces exactly the same way each time, and maybe there's a good reason! So, here's Maple Leaf with some suggestions for development through each repeated strain, and how to add some bounce to your "stride". If you can play the original; you can easily play this one, and even start adding your own improvisations!

I look forward to hearing from you at my e-mail:  klazzkeys@aol.com
