Stephen Cleoburys "magnificat"is a lively setting with staccato chords in fourths and seconds accompanying legato lines in the voice parts. The more contemplative"Nunc Dimittis" features a tenor solo followed by unison lines for altos and basses, as well as full choral phrases. The same 'Gloria' setting serves both canticles, providing each with a grand conclusion.
