Kocher (A0.943020).In my imagination summertime conjures images of Medieval and Renaissance Faires; it is a time of magic and of fairies. In "Lammas Rain" I try to set the mood of a light summer rain which quickly builds to a downpour and then just as quickly dissipates. The revelers run and duck for cover, some sheltering in little man-made groves and outbuildings while others shelter (perhaps unwisely) under trees. The storm passes. The last few drops trickle from the drooping leaves. And for a space of time, all is quiet.
"Lammas Rain" is ideal as a concert piece, a recital piece, or just as an enjoyable mood-setting piece to play at home. It can even be a great "special" piece to play at church services, to celebrate the earliest harvest of the year - the "loaf mass".
