J. S. Bach arranged many concertos by various composers probably at the request of Prince Johann Ernst of Saxe-Weimar. Among them are timeless favorites by Vivaldi and others, all in keyboard arrangements noteworthy for their moderate difficulty, fullness of sound and lively execution. Here, for the first time, these works are presented on the basis of all available sources, edited in accordance with the guidelines of the ground-breaking New Bach Edition. The result is an exemplary publication that meets all the demands of historical performance practice.

Lovely edition. Great printing on a beautifully clear page. To the reviewer complaining about a lack of fingerings, Barenreiter almost never prints them. Also, if you're playing these, presumably you can work out your own.

I've received it today. It's a very good edition. But, I was disappointed when I realized that there was no fingering. May be you should specified it on your Website.

  • February 19, 2007 Review of baroque classics arr for piano

I found these very hard to play-transcriptions of Vivaldi and Marcello concertos arranged for piano. Though I love baroque music, I will have to practice before I can play these with ease. I did try to play the Marcello Oboe concerto on my clarinet, and did better than when...

I tried the piece on my piano. I made it through approx second year piano major in an "average" music school.
