African-American Spiritual This spirited gospel celebration of the birth of Jesus from Lloyd Larson is a top-seller in the Hope choral catalog. Originally arranged for SATB, this fun-filled setting is now available in SAB. The rhythm track is sensational and highly recommended. Bursting with energy, this makes an ideal seasonal selection for worship services and concerts in both churches and schools. The Rhythm parts are written lead-sheet style with guitar chords, also with parts for piano, drums and bass.

An accessible, professional arrangement of an increasingly popular Christmas spiritual. Lloyd Larson should be in everyone's library, as he has been widely published throughout his long career. Not simply a once-through read for our small but accomplished church choir, it has moments of interest in all parts and...

solid tutti writing. The occasional extended syncopations will challenge the average singer. The men's and women's verse sections might more soulfully be sung by soloists, if available; the rhythms given are fine for a section but a bit constrained given the genre. The accompaniment is fun to play, and leaves room to improvise, as is appropriate in this style. The cool original unison riff that ends the piece brings it to four stars.
