Jam! is one of the most fun and unique pieces your string orchestra will perform in their musical development, getting them familiar with new styles that they'll use later on. Many of its rhythms can be left up to your and your group's interpretation, so get creative... break it up and let your group really jam! Duration: 3:33.
Jam! is one of the most fun and unique pieces your string orchestra will perform in their musical development. As a professional musician in an orchestra, the performer will often be called upon to play in many different styles. Jam! provides an opportunity to explore some of those non-classical styles. The music infuses fun right from the beginning with some clapping and a hip bass line. The main melody announces itself in a slow, dramatic fashion at m. 18 then jumps right back into the fast tempo. Make the most out of the slides in the melody and the dynamic contrasts throughout the piece. When the clapping returns at m. 92, feel free to experiment with your own rhythms and repeat the section at m. 96 to allow for more development. The melody takes over at m. 104 and keeps the intensity going until the slow statement at m. 137. Take your time on this to make the most dramatic ending possible.
