Composed by Michael Bomier. Contemporary,Instructional,Jazz,Standards. Score. 2 pages. Michael Butkus-Bomier #2008261. Published by Michael Butkus-Bomier (A0.862459).

Intermode is an example of how jazz composers mix and match melodic and harmonic colors. The major scale, and its chords, the melodic minor, the Lydian mode, the augmented Lydian scale, the Lydian Dominant and its chords, all these complex names are just the academic descriptions of color, just like vermillion, chartreuse, and cerulean are subtle but important shades of red, green and blue. Rolled and broken tenths throughout. Slow-paced, to allow each harmony to resonate and contrast with the chords from other colors on either side of them. Entire piece repeats, as one time through is not enough to hear the contrasting harmonic shades in their subtlety. Approx duration 2 mins 30 secs. Not a swing piece, but a pensive ballad mood.
