Organ or piano - Beginning
Composed by Charles E. Callahan Jr. (1951-). Bestseller, Offertories, Preludes. Catholic Year A Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity. Ash Wednesday, Feast of Corpus Christi, Reformation, World Communion Sunday. MorningStar Music Publishers #10-829. Published by MorningStar Music Publishers (MN.10-829).

Item Number: MN.10-829

If you have served "on the bench" for any denomination that celebrates the Lord's Supper, these settings will help you get through the panic when Communion takes longer than planned or the choir doesn't have enough people to sing the scheduled anthem. They are based on familiar hymns and are grouped by key centers so that they may be played one after the other.

This book is arranged for Organ, Piano, or Keyboard, but I would rate it much higher for piano than for organ. Some pieces have what I would think of as the organ pedal part, but most of it would be much better with just the piano. I like it for...

    that.

This book will dress up or dress down depending on what you need. Easy to improvise, add pedals and change voicing . Easy to sight read for even the early intermediate player

A great buy! Makes for fantastic prelude, offertory, meditation, or interlude music. Most of the pieces are sight-readable to someone who has been playing for a while. I would highly recommend this book to any organist and or pianist who is looking for some quite music for services.-Most...

I am recently back to providing music for worship. The selections in "In Communion" do not require a lot of practice. A nice note is that they sound beautiful on either the organ or piano

  • February 20, 2008 This has a permanent place on my organ bench!

Already proven invaluable for interludes, meditative moments and communion...anytime an intriquing, non-intrusive voluntary is appropriate. Creative use of stops makes this collection almost limitless. Easy to sight read and even lends itself well to improvisation.
