Like most people, I have a lot of books. If I get a few techniques/songs from them that's fine. This book really has it all, and it's organized very well. Absolutely one of the best resources I've ever found. Author deserves a lot of credit on...

    this one.

A thorough book which explains many different aspects of blues and improvisation. The skills learned can be applied to other types of improvisation as well. Can be used with a teacher, or independently. The CD is great and can be used to jam with.

  • August 04, 2011 best blues piano book

If you want to become a well rounded blues piano player, get this book. It is so complete, teaches you a wide variety of left-hand figures, explains quite some theory and has authentic-sounding versions of many blues classics. The explanation is really good,it is not limited to...

one type of blues (but includes jazzy blues, boogie woogie, Chicago style, New Orleans, stride piano, walking bass, etc.)For me, it also served as a starting point for improvisation. I play a lot of jazz nowadays, but the improvisation principles taught here are much more inspiring than all the theory books.
