Composed by Johannes Brahms. Arranged by Daniel S. Augustine. Folk,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 24 pages. Daniel S. Augustine #3556879. Published by Daniel S. Augustine (A0.837239).

Johannes Brahms (1833-1897) wrote the first book of five Hungarian Dances in 1869. Number five was originally in F# minor for piano four hands and was one of his most popular and profitable compositions. The present arrangement uses F minor for use with band instruments, and it omits the slow middle section of the original work. The tempo is marked at quarter-note 120, at which tempo the piece lasts about 1’20". The level of difficulty only requires good high school players.    The arrangement includes parts for both Horn in Eb and in F, and for both Baritone TC (Treble Clef) and BC (Bass Clef). The accordion part is a lead sheet with melody and chords. Although the arrangement calls for 11 instruments, some of the parts have been doubled so that the melody and melodic harmony can be handled by two instruments (for example, one trumpet and one clarinet). Although not doubled, the middle voices of horn, baritone, and trombone could be represented by one of these instruments, and the bass drum parts would make a total of five players. Many configurations are possible.
