By Ben Webster. By Irving Berlin. Arranged by Rupert Austin. Broadway,Jazz,Musical/Show,Standards. Score. 10 pages. Rupert Austin #5957599. Published by Rupert Austin (A0.713516).

An exploration of Irving Berlin's classic melody for solo piano that encompasses a range of keyboard techniques, including a lengthy section using a walking bass left hand. Performance duration is about 5 minutes 30 seconds, and a performance can be viewed at youtube.com/c/rupertaustin/videos.
The first statement of the melody is at a fairly slow tempo and is rhythmically straightforward while using some extended chords and reharmonisations. From bar 32 the tempo picks up and swinging 8th notes are used in an extensive improvisatory treatment of the song.
