Healing is a Suite for Violin and Piano that includes four movements.
In 2020, when the quarantine caused by COVID-19 started in New York City, I had to start remote lessons with all my students. The mother of one of them, a doctor facing the hard times ahead of us told me: "We need music in our lives now more than ever. We need to heal!" Her words keep resonating with me, I wish I could help in some way and my natural instinct was to make this work.
The work started as a single piece, but then I realized I had enough material for 3 movements more. The movements are named as follows:
I. Healing
II. Awaiting
III. Mourning
IV. Restoring
Healing had its World Premiere in Costa Rica thanks to Dr. Rebeca Ordóñez (to whom the work is kindly dedicated) and Lic. Johan Chapellín.
The music reflects my personal journey through the quarantine caused by the pandemic of COVID-19. A Journey of hope that, for now, we still need to get through.
The music is also a thank you card to all essential workers, especially those in the arts. Whose work and enthusiasm has made this quarantine a lot more bearable.
