Composed by George Frideric Handel. Arranged by Georg Mertens. Baroque,Multicultural,Opera,Standards,World. Score and parts. 8 pages. Georg Mertens #3509891. Published by Georg Mertens (A0.790857).The edition of the Recitativo and Aria from Handel's opera "Rinaldo" provides:
The score of the recitativo for melody cello, continuo & guitar
cello melody part of the Aria
cello continuo part of the Aria
guitar part of the Aria
The Recitativo is by itself rather more suitable for being expressed in words. However, the transition from the Recitativo to the Aria is so masterfully constructed, it creates a very special moment just in the transition to the Aria, the very beginning through the changes in measure, key and speed ( which is lost by not playing the Recitativo).
the Aria itself is written in the dance form of the slow sarabande with accents on the first and second beat.
In the guitar part the player should bring out the bass.
Here an example for cello & guitar (unfortunately before I transcribed the Recitativo): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qKec1dQbypQ
