This release from The Mansfield University Concert Wind Ensemble features gems from the symphonic wind repertoire, including Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, as well as a special piece for oboe and wind ensemble featuring Dr. Susan Laib as soloist. The Mansfield University Concert Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Adam F. Brennan, has been hailed as an outstanding performing ensemble, richly sensitive, musically compelling, and deeply passionate in their interpretation of cutting edge wind and percussion repertoire. The ensemble consists of 49 auditioned performers. Mansfield University is the state's premiere Public, Liberal Arts University. Its small size (about 3000 students) and focus on students is just one reason the MU Concert Wind Ensemble remains in the rarified air among the finest collegiate wind ensembles in the United States. The band program also maintains a large symphonic band, an authentic and award-winning brass band, a jazz lab band, an outstanding marching band of over 220 members and a basketball band. Chamber ensembles in the wind and percussion area about. Dr. Adam Brennan has been the director of bands and professor of percussion studies at Mansfield University Pennsylvania since 1995. He earned his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in instrumental conducting from the University of Oklahoma. A composer with 18 professional recordings and over 250 compositions and arrangements to his credit, Brennan is sought after for his energetic, passionate, and excellent work with musicians, teachers, and students.
