By Accademia d'Archi Arrigoni, Laura Bortoletto, Lea Birringer, Luca Vignali, and Stefano Rava. By Federigo Fiorillo. Classical. Listening CD. Published by Brilliant Classics (NX.BRI95136).

Stylistically reminiscent of the late Baroque style rather than his Classical era contemporaries, the composer, mandolinist, and violinist Federigo Fiorillo (1755-c.1823) was born in Germany of Neopolitan descent and eventually settling in London, and known chiefly for his violin works, including the 36 Caprices which remains part of student repertory today. Fiorillo's concertos are less known, and the Accademia d'Archi Arrigoni, led by by Domenico Mason present these rarely recorded pieces at a budget friendly price with the energy and verve they were written.
