Clarinettist Emma Johnson has enjoyed a thriving career in the UK since winning the BBC Young Musician of the Year Competition and the Young Artists Auditions in New York at the young age of seventeen. For this recording, Emma is joined by bassoonist Philip Gibbon, horn player Michael Thompson, bassist Chris West, and the Carducci Quartet. The Schubert Octet featured on this recording reveals the composer at his most profound. The masterpiece is astonishing and expressive, especially with its usage of the eight musicians' dialogue with one another. Alongside the Schubert, Bernhard Crusell's Concert Trio is also presented.
