The duet arrangements are simple but not boring. I've only been playing violin for 2 years but have played other instruments for many years, and it's hard to find things that are interesting to play within in my skill range. My teacher and I are using these for...

    sight reading.

This is an excellent resource to be able to play music and work on rhythm. The pieces are short so they are simple to learn and memorize. The true value is being able to play with someone else to better gage your rhythm. Metronomes are nice, but mine never stays...

on for 5 full minutes before I turn it off in frustration. This is a much better way to develop timing as you enjoy playing (and practicing) your violin.

I bought this to play with a very young (6 year old) student who is very musically gifted. This offers musically rewarding material while developing ensemble skills. I recommend this without reservation.

I picked up both this book and the Peters edition Mozart 12 Easy Duets K 487. Many of the same tunes are in both books, but arranged in different keys. This edition (Heinrichshofen) is a bit more difficult overall as it has more of the pieces keyed in flat keys...

, whereas the Peters edition is mostly keyed in G and D. Good book, but definately not a basic beginner volume.

This music is well edited and just takes practice. It is wonderful to be able to play Mozart with these fun, easy arrangements. Not for the true beginner though. After all, Mozart was a genius!
