Written December 3, 2015, this is an original piano composition that is a compositional etude using distant third chord relationships. I actually wrote this from scratch today in a music theory class at my college for a student trying to show how to incorporate chords that are a third a way from the tonic or root, but which are not in the key. This song is in B Flat major, however we decided to use chords such as G Flat Major, G Major, and D Major and then to return to the B flat chord. It has a bit of an unusual feeling in harmonic movement, but was a technique that was used frequently in the romantic period such as with Brahms and forward. Wrote every note while sitting with the student. Took the picture last week from my balcony. Hope you enjoy. "2016 New Year Contest".
