The solo flute and solo alto flute act as the dueling soloists in place of vocalists, with the remaining four flute parts acting as accompaniment. This is a perfect feature for a strong alto player and can show an audience the subtle, but important, difference in tone quality between the solo instruments. Ensemble uses the following instrumentation: 1 solo C Flute.; 1 solo Alto Flute; 2 C Flute; 1 Alto Flute; and 1 Bass Flute.
