It is never my concern to create a new musical language, so I don’t see myself as a composer. In “Grasshopper Playing Tricks on a Rooster”, you may see traces from others work, like Fazil say : Pagnini Jazz, Ravel: Le tombeau de Couperin, and Friedich Gulda: Paly piano Play. In “Dark Sky”, there are Prokofiev Piano Sonata No.7 Mov. 3 and the Rachmaninovian ending patterns, with my fugue in the middle. During my study in Berlin, I’ve also studies Jazz, and its unusual sound and improvisational ideas also inspired my transcription.
