The Danse macabreis one of the most celebrated works of Camille Saint-Saens and of the French symphonic repertoire in general. After the premiere on 24 January 1875, the work firmly established itself as an incontrovertible success.Arrangers-often famous names-soon adopted the Danse and the versions for various instruments multiplied. Saint-Saens himself made a version of it for two pianos and one for violin and piano republished here.

La Danse macabre est l'une des oeuvres parmi les plus celebres de Camille Saint-Saens et du repertoire symphonique francais en general. Des sa creation le 24 janvier 1875, l'oeuvre s'etablit durablement comme un incontournable succes. Lestranscripteurs-souvent de grands noms-s'emparent bientot de cette Danse, et les versions pour instruments divers se multiplient. Saint-Saens lui-meme en realise une version pour deux pianos et celle pour violon et piano ici republiee.

Rivelatasi un successo imprescindibile fin dalla sua prima esecuzione il 24 gennaio 1875, la Danse e stata trascritta per strumenti vari anche da celebri compositori. Lo stesso Saint-Saens ne realizzo una versione per violino e pianoforte qui pubblicata in una nuova veste grafica e con nuove incisioni.
