Commissioned by Carnegie Hall for violinist Pamela Frank, Zwilich’s 26-minute concerto was premiered in 1998 and has enjoyed many performances since then. Cast in a three-movement mold, the concerto is full of Zwilich’s celebrated zest and richness, also drawing flavor from Bach and the blues, particularly in its profound slow movement.
