Published by Salim Haddad (S0.427219).A lively piece dominated by rapid semiquavers, the atmosphere is quite dark. Ravel's D major piano Concerto for the left hand is an influence here, particularly the two cadenzas. I used different methods of making this work sound as if played with two hands: the notes of a few melodic passages are accompanied with the remaining fingers (following the tradition of left hand piano writing) and the rapid passages are interspersed with chords. I feel it is an effective concert study for the single hand, and a valuable addition to this repertoire.

Salim is mainly self-taught on the piano, having started this instrument at the age of 20 and worked on his own for six years. A grade ten level (RCM) was achieved. He then enrolled in music school for a year, further improving through participation in recitals and master classes. He also taught himself composition and has written music for piano and organ.
Concert pianists will benefit from this Etude, as well as advanced students looking to improve technique. Salim is currently working on more music for this instrument and for the organ.
