Based on "The Chopsticks Waltz" by Euphemia Allen - and the first song that most people learn on piano - this short diversion for orchestra is a fun, and funny, piece to add to your orchestra program. From the opening piano flourish and simple opening theme, this piece grows from beginning to middle; then it pauses for a moving canon and then grows some more. There’s a lot here to unpack. Most important is the triangle feature in the last six bars.
And who doesn’t love a triangle solo?
