Nocturne Op. 9, No. 2 (1832) is the second of three nocturnes which he composed at the age of twenty and dedicated to Madame Marie Pleyel, a Belgian concert pianist at the time.

This arrangement features the melody in the clarinet accompanied by the piano. The soloist must maintain a sweet character in the upper register of the clarinet. Both performers must be very sensitive to each other as the piece requires much expression and rubato
