This is GREAT Music - but NOT usually for a "pops" audience, more for an "academic" audience, or just for concert band self-satisfaction. Definitely 20th-century modernistic style, not for people who hate atonal stuff.

Chester Overture is an incredible addition to the concert band repertoire. I find this to be an outstanding teaching tool because it helps tremendously with intonation. The opening chorale in this piece, which sets the style for the entire work, is what makes this piece somewhat difficult for wind band...

. Overall, I would recommend this to any willing ensemble.
