Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (S0.650985).This is an entertaining single-movement quartet scored foroboe, violin, viola and cello. With a running time of just two and a halfminutes this lively piece is sure to please performers and audiences alike withits infectious rhythms and catchy melodies. It was composed in 2016 as anencore for a concert given by the Salaya Quartet, a distinguished group ofmusicians who at the time were also section leaders in the ThailandPhilharmonic Orchestra. The first performance of this work was given by CooperWright (oboe); Inga Causa (violin); Dr Danny Keasler (viola) and MartinSzawelski (cello).
Although originally conceived as an encore piece, thislively work will enliven any concert programme. It’s written in G major withtwo bright and rhythmic outer sections and a more reflective middle sectionthat briefly gives the melody to the cello. The oboe part requires anexperienced player but it is not especially challenging in terms of range andthe uppermost note is G6. The cello part remains in the bass clef throughout. Celebration! is also available scoredfor flute and strings.
The score has seven pages and the four instrumental partshave three pages each, with slightly enlarged print to facilitate performance. Themusic is presented in a single PDF file which contains the full score as wellas individual parts for oboe, violin, viola and cello.
