In 2000, the movie Cast Away stormed into cinemas and received two Oscar nominations in the process. It follows the story of a man (played by Tom Hanks) who gets stranded on an island after the plane he is traveling on crashes. As the sole survivor, he does his best to keep himself alive while facing a rather bleak situation. An interesting feature about this film is that after hearing an Elvis song and a Russian choir, no music is heard again until the end of the movie, over 100 minutes later! Aidan Thomas creates a moving arrangement of the end credits music.
De kaskraker Cast Away werd in het jaar 2000 genomineerd voor twee Oscars. De film vertelt het verhaal van een man die neerstort met een vliegtuig. Tom Hanks speelt deze rol en als enige overlevende komt hij terecht op een onbewoondeiland. Aan het begin van de film horen we een lied van Elvis Presley en een Russisch koor. Maar bijzonder is dat er pas na meer dan 100 minuten weer muziek klinkt! Aidan Thomas maakte van dit prachtige hoofdthema deze subtielebewerking.

Eine Besonderheit dieses Films ist, dass, nach einem Elvis-Song und einen russischen Chor erst wieder am Ende des Films Musik erklingt - nach mehr als 100 Minuten! Aidan Thomas schuf eine nuancierte Bearbeitung des Hauptthemas der Abspannmusik.

Après un accident d’avion, Chuck Noland (Tom Hanks) se retrouve, seul, sur une île déserte. Il faudra attendre la fin du film pour découvrir une orchestration toute particulière d’une chanson d’Elvis, interprétée par un choeur russe. L’arrangement pour orchestre d’harmonie que nous propose Aidan Thomas est nuancé de douceur et de quiétude.
