'Canzun' is the Rhaeto-Romanic term for 'song' or 'chant'. The work Canzun is based on two songs from the folk tradition of the Alps. In the middle movement, we hear the Canzun della Sontga Margriata, an old song from the Bündner Mountains about the legend of Saint Margriata. At the beginning and the end of the composition, motifs from a Maria hymn from Vorarlberg can be heard. Thus, two songs from neighbouring Alps regions are connected and developed together creating lively, dynamic sections as well as lyrical, lofty passages. The strength of the concert band gives room to wide, expressive melody lines in many contrasting sound colours.
'Canzun' is de Reto-Romaanse term voor 'lied' of 'gezang'. Het werk Canzun is gebaseerd op twee liederen uit de volkstraditie in het Alpengebied: in het middelste deel horen we de 'Canzun della Sontga Margriata', een oud lied uitde Bundner Bergen dat gaat over de legende van de heilige Margriata. Aan het begin en eind van de compositie zijn motieven uit een Marialied uit Vorarlberg te horen. Zo worden twee liederen uit aan elkaar grenzende Alpenregio'smet elkaar verbonden en samen verder uitgewerkt. Daarbij ontstaan levendige dynamische gedeelten evenals lyrische, gedragen passages. De bezetting van het blaasorkest maakt de ontwikkeling van uitgestrekte, expressieve melodielijnenin veelzijdige klankkleuren mogelijk.
Canzun ist der ratoromanische Begriff für Lied oder Gesang. Das Stück Canzun basiert auf zwei Gesangen der alpinen Volkstradition: Im Mittelteil erscheint die Canzun della Sontga Margriata, ein altes Lied aus den Bündner Bergen, welches von der Legende der heiligen Margriata handelt. Zu Beginn und am Ende klingen zusatzlich Motive aus einem Vorarlberger Marienlied an. So werden zwei Gesange aus benachbarten Alpenregionen in diesem Stück verbunden und motivisch weiterentwickelt. Dabei entstehen dynamisch bewegte wie auch lyrisch getragene Atmospharen. Die Besetzung des Blasorchesters ermoglicht die Entwicklung von weiten, ausdrucksvollenMelodielinien und vielfaltigen Klangfarben.(Lesen Sie auch die Pressestimme unter Biberussa CD WSR053)
Canzun s'inspire de deux tres anciens chants montagnards en provenance de deux regions alpines voisines, les Grisons (Suisse) et le Vorarlberg (Autriche). Dans le passage d'ouverture et de fin, Oliver Waespi expose et developpe quelques fragments d'une chanson mariale du Vorarlberg. Le passage central reprend la melodie de la chanson rheto-romanche, Canzun della Sontga Margriata, qui evoque la legende de sainte Marguerite, une deesse des Alpes grisonnes. Les climats sont nuances, lyriques et solennels. Les courbes melodiques sont amples et genereusement colorees.
Canzun e una parola che in retoromancio (lingua parlata nel cantone svizzero dei Grigioni), significa canzone. Canzun si basa su due canti alpini: nel passaggio centrale La Canzun della Sontga Margriata, un antico canto delle montagne dei Grigioni, evoca le gesta della Santa Margriata. All'inizio e alla fine la composizione propone motivi di una canzone del Voralberg. Due canti di nazioni alpine confinanti vengono cosi intrecciati e sviluppati per dare luce ad atmosfere liriche e dinamiche.
