I only played the Danse movement, which is just a crowd pleaser through and through. It's strange rhythm perpetuates itself throughout the movement, which modulates itself through all different kinds of time signatures, starting in 9/4, going through 7/4, 5/4, many others, before finally entering into...

a standard 4/4. The swinging rhythmical section contrasts with a sweetly singing melody, before they finally come together in a final frenzy. I played the violin part, my first time in a trio of this kind, and it was a great introduction to this type of chamber music. The movement, with it's opening double stop rhythmic melody and with a couple of moving octave sections, and with its 184 beats per minute tempo, can be rather difficult. But as my french violin teacher who introduced me to this piece said, "this is really rock and roll."
