Doesn?t everyone get butterflies in the stomach every now and then? Every person has known moments of being in love. Accordingly, in Butterfly Overture a charming love theme has been employed, which is introduced by the alto saxophone in the slow middle passage. Additionally, the butterfly is a cheerful flutterer that never moves in a straight line but always with an unexpected motion. In the Vivace the flute initially performs the fluttering theme, after which it has been instrumented in diverse variations throughout the entire band. A wonderful new addition to the Concert Band repertoire that will be a firm favourite for many years.

Wie heeft er niet af en toe vlinders in zijn buik? In Butterfly Overture is een fraai liefdesthema verwerkt - evenals een thema van de vlinder als fladderaar. Met een opeenstapeling van de melodische uitgangspunten van beidethema's ontstaan er twee basisakkoorden die samen met een diatonisch dalende baslijn garant staan voor een stevige opening. Deze wordt gevolgd door een Misterioso, waar in de begeleiding verschillende basisakkoorden op elkaar wordengestapeld en de suggestie wordt gewekt dat een rups zich ontpopt tot vlinder. Na het snelle en langzame deel volgt een korte reprise van het snelle deel, waarin beide thema's tegelijk klinken. Het werk eindigt met de krachtigeakkoorden en ritmiek van het begin.

Schmetterlinge im Bauch - wer kennt dieses Gefuhl nicht? Peter Kleine Schaars vertonte diese treffliche Metapher fur das Verliebt sein in seiner Komposition Butterfly Overture. Im Mittelteil prasentiert das Altsaxophon ein bezauberndes Liebesthema. Das Flatterhafte, Frohliche und Uberraschende im Wesen des Schmetterlings und der Liebe wird in einem weiteren Thema im Vivace zunachst von der Flote vorgestellt und dann in variierenden Instrumentierungen durch das gesamte Blasorchester gereicht. Spatestens bei den kraftvollen Schlussakkorden sind dann alle auf der Buhne und im Zuschauerraum mit dem beruhmten Kribbeln im Bauch infiziert!

De temps a autre, il arrive qu'on ressente des papillons dans l'estomac. Chacun connait cette sensation grisante qui nait de l'emotion du sentiment amoureux. C'est ainsi que Butterfly Overture developpe une melodie delicieusement romantique. Mais le papillon se revele egalement imprevisible, il volette joyeusement, libre d'aller ou il veut. La flute introduit alors un theme virevoltant qui chemine sous la forme de variations a travers l'ensemble des pupitres de la formation. Et la chenille devient papillon...

Butterfly Ouverture descrive la primavera, con i suoi colori e profumi. Il brano sviluppa una melodia romantica, ma la primavera puo rivelarsi imprevedibile, con cambiamenti di tempo repentini, descritti in musica dal flauto che introduce un tema piroettante sotto forma di variazioni attraverso tutte le sezioni dell'organico.
