The selected pieces of Tarquinio Merula, Alessandro Scarlatti, Maurizio Cazzati and others are characterized by an irrepressible joy and downright stunning vocal and instrumental virtuosity. An interesting addition on this release is a specially composed piece from Greek composer Calliope Tsoupaki, Melena iml.
