Movement I is a strong, powerful overture, a true symbol of mankind’s courage and persistence. Movement II fades to a calm rendition of Claude Debussy’s Clair de Lune, featuring various flute and powerful front ensemble runs. Movement III tells the story of the most famous event is space exploration history, the landing of the lunar module in The Sea of Tranquility on the moon. A powerful piece with soaring brass solos and strong melodies paired with well-known speeches and phrases from the era, The Sea of Tranquility truly captures the power and emotion of one of mankind’s largest accomplishments. Movement IV leads us into the unknown of the future of space exploration with a unique arrangement of Mars, Bringer of War from Gustav Holst’s The Planets culminating in a thrilling drumline-led ending. As the show comes to a close, Movement V begins with a swift snare feature shortly followed by more brass solos and a powerful motif. The show concludes with an inspiring statement on the future of human space exploration with an astonishing ending sure to please any crowd.
