This is an opportunity to celebrate the life of its composer and lyricist, Consuelo Velázquez.
There is much scope for ensemble variation in performing this arrangement, which is suitable for a string orchestra from post-elementary to intermediate standard, with a solo violin of advanced standard.
Though scored for string orchestra and violin, the solo violin part may be omitted without too much loss of effect. Alternatively a singer may be incorporated, and used as an alternative to or in addition to the violin solo. Both Spanish and English words are given in the full score, as well as suggestions and guidance for performance.
A piano, violin and voice arrangement is also available, where the piano part may also be used to enhance the string orchestra ensemble.
