Its German text has gone through various translations, thus the minor difference between this hymn and "Fairest Lord Jesus." There is a slight variation in melody as well. Grandma says this is a sweet hymn about Christ and the Creation, and she once exclaimed, "With a simple melodic tune and beautiful lyrics, you can't go wrong!" Grandma is hardly ever wrong--just ask her! I dedicate this intermediate arrangement to my great-grandparents on my father's side, German Lutherans whom I never met. I'm certain that would have loved this hymn. I'm just taking Grandma's advice. Key of Eb with no changes, three pages, About 2:10 minutes performance time. .
